Cas Abao Beach Curacao: Review and Beach Guide

Playa Cas Abao – or Cas Abao Beach – is one of the most beautiful beaches in Curacao. It has previously even been voted as one of the most beautiful beaches in the world.

And it can be no surprise – the beach is stunning, the water is crystal clear, and the marine life is amazing. We have been to this beach many times, and we keep coming back for more.

A beach bar, palm trees, turquoise water, colorful fishes, and a big sand patch of coastline make this beach a paradise for tourists.

Since Cas Abao Beach is a bit off the beaten track, I have created this ultimate guide that will tell you everything you need to know for a great excursion.

Let’s get to it!

How to Get to Cas Abao

Cas Abao is located in the Western part of the island, in an area called Banda Abou. It is about 45 minutes from Willemstad.

Follow the Weg naar Westpunt until Terra Cora. Then, make a left turn and follow the street until you see the entrance sign of Cas Abao Beach on your left-hand side.

To reach Cas Abao Beach, you either need to get a rental car or book a guided day tour.

The drive is pretty easy, but the last bit of the road is in bad condition. Any car can manage the drive, but it is not super smooth.

Cas Abao Beach is a special place for snorkel enthusiasts. It is especially a great snorkel beach in Curacao for beginners because the water is shallow and calm.

You can see Stingrays, Eagle Rays, and sometimes even Manta Rays. Dolphins love this area, especially from November to February.

Whales have also been spotted in these clear waters. The beach is also a nesting site for various turtle species.

Especially around the edges of the cliff, you can see to the bottom of the ocean floor – and see Cas Abao’s own distinctive coral formation. Sea turtles do make a special appearance from time to time, but they are not regulars here.

Of course, you can see corals, sponges, and lots of tropical fish. My favorite one is the cowfish, for sure.

My tip: Cas Abao Beach is located in a bay, with cliffs on both sides. Check the left side of the cliffs for advanced snorkeling, and the right side for beginner-friendly snorkeling.

Divers of all levels (min Open Water) can dive at Cas Abao Beach. It is a shore diving site, with a depth of 40 ft – 120 ft.

The on-site BDiving and Watersports, a PADI 5-Star Dive Resort, offers complete diving services, including air and nitrox tanks, introduction dives, guided dives, and a range of PADI courses.

Cas Abao Curacao – My Honest Review

As you have seen in these pictures, Cas Abao is one of the most beautiful beaches in Curaçao. The water has an amazing quality, and the beach is easily accessible without water shoes.

But I still would not rate Cas Abao as one of my favorite beaches in Curacao. Sadly, you have to pay for every single thing there: showers, beach beds, entrance fees, etc.

All the other beaches in Curaçao do not make you pay at all for entering, so this is a huge contrast.

On some days, they block off entire sections of the beach for cruise ship guests. We were unlucky enough to go there on such a day. There were not that many beds left for normal guests.

Overall, I think you should go there at least once to see the beach because it is really beautiful. But I would not make it my number one beach on the island either.

How Far is Cas Abao Beach From the Cruise Port

Cas Abao Beach is about 40 kilometers (25 miles) from the Willemstad cruise port in Curaçao. The drive usually takes around 45 minutes, depending on traffic. It’s a pretty scenic route too, so you’ll enjoy the trip!

As mentioned before, you either need a rental car or a guided day tour to make the journey. Going with a cab will be super expensive because it is so far.

Conclusion: Cas Abao Curacao

In this post, we had a look at beautiful Cas Abao – or Bon Bini Beach – in Curacao. We discovered that it is a full-service beach that offers a lot of possibilities.

They have all the necessary facilities, such as restrooms, lockers, plenty of parking, toilets, paddle boards, water scooters, and a brand-new restaurant for snacks on the premises.

If you are looking to visit Playa Cas Abao from the cruise port, you need to plan at least 45 minutes for driving in each direction. Perhaps, Mambo Beach is the better option.

I hope you enjoy Cas Abao Beach as much as we did, and have a great time on the island. If you are looking for more things to do on the island, make sure to read about the 50 best things to do in Curacao.
