Smy Orizontes Santorini in Pyrgos
Have you looked at the map of the island and asked yourself, “Where to stay in Santorini?” This is the answer! One of our favorite luxury hotels to stay in Santorini is the village of Pyrgos. Due to the higher altitude of the town, you have an amazing 360-degree view of the beautiful island. Our stay in Orizontes Santorini was amazing – from the pool and the restaurant you have an amazing view over the vineyards and the ocean, the staff is super friendly and helpful and the food is simply amazing.
The big pool area is surrounded by waist-high glass walls on almost all sides, so you have an amazing view of the island while relaxing. You can see all the way from the lighthouse in Akrotiri to the famous village of Oia.
Poolside you will find comfy lounge chairs and beds that are great for tanning. It can get quite windy by the pool, which is very nice during the hot days of summer. The pool itself is worth an Instagram picture for sure!
The hotel staff was very helpful and arranged multiple excursions around the island for us. They also arranged for ATVs and helped out with our airport transfer.
The rate included a big continental breakfast with different warm and cold delights. They served fresh juices, coffee, and tea as well as typical Greek breakfast foods. The restaurant is open all day serving food and delicious cocktails poolside.
We loved the spacious rooms with island decor. Our room had a huge terrace where we spent many nights drinking delicious Santorini wine while watching the sunset over the island.
The small but beautiful village of Pyrgos is only a 3 minutes walk away. There you can find amazing restaurants, cute bars, and Instagram-able photo spots.
Antinea Suites & Spa in Kamari
The beach town of Kamari is located on the east of the island and is known for its black sand beaches, open-air cinema, and cafe-lined promenade. Despite the town being very vibrant and charming, we managed to find a quiet spot to stay in. This is your choice if you are wondering where to stay in Santorini by the beach.
Antinea Suites & Spa is located a bit more off the beaten tracks of Kamari and built in a typical Cycladic Style. The hotel is modern, quiet, and stylish and offers a restaurant, pool bar, and spa. The hotel is located a bit uphill from Kamari, therefore it is super quiet and has a great view over the ocean.
The breakfast buffet is enormous and offers a wide array of different dishes. My favorite thing to eat every day was something from the big sweets selection, which offers different kinds of Baklava and pudding.
We were lucky enough to enjoy the Junior Suite with a private jetted tub. The Suite was a small house with 2 stories, consisting of a living area, a sleeping area, and two bathrooms. In our front yard, we had two tanning beds and a jetted pool just for ourselves.
On our first day, we were surprised with a bottle of Champagne as well as a discount voucher for spa treatments. We were also offered a free pickup from our previous hotel. We also got a free airport shuttle on our departure.
Both my husband and I booked massages at the spa. While we both had our treatments the other one was allowed to relax by the pool. We were also allowed to make use of the sauna. We loved the massages and the whole spa experience.
Azanti Suites in Megalochori
Our by far favorite place to stay in Santorini is the Azanti Suites Hotel in the cute village of Megalochori. Our honeymoon suite included a private vineyard and an amazing infinity pool overlooking the volcano.
Every morning we would be spoiled with a huge breakfast basket. It included traditional Greek treats, freshly pressed juice, and even a bottle of champagne on our first day. What we loved most about this place was the absolute sense of calmness, tranquility, and privacy provided.
The inside of our suite was decorated like a typical Santorini cave house. It had a super cozy bed and a luxurious bathroom, and a spacious seating area.
We have not experienced that kind of luxury anywhere else in the world. Every evening we would make our way into the small town of Megalochori. There we enjoyed traditional Santorini wine and delicious pasta.
We did not only use the suite for our honeymoon. We also got married right on the terrace of our suite, overlooking the ocean.
The staff was extremely friendly and we were provided an extensive list of travel tips and restaurant recommendations for Santorini.
